Totally arrived as a Blogger!

I started blogging 6 months ago and a few days ago I received an email from the guys at Total Greek Yogurt asking me to blog about my top ten tips to living a healthier life.

YEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!  I've arrived as a blogger!!  I've been head hunted!!!!

I know that the world and his dog will now do posts about their top ten tips, but I'm going to shamelessly jump on the bandwagon and shout it from the roof tops - HERE ARE MY TOP TEN TIPS TO A HEALTHIER LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!

:p

1. EXERCISE - you don't have to be a gym bunny, you really don't.  Whether you run, walk, swim, hop, skip or jump, get moving!  Having fought Depression (yes, capital D) most of my adult life I can honestly say that the best medication I've found has been a combination of natural sunlight and endorphins (those little critters that get released when exercising).

2. WATER -  it's magic.  2 litres of the stuff every day works wonders.

3. EAT CLEAN - by this I mean eat as little processed foods as possible, lots of fresh fruits, fresh veg, meats (assuming you're not vegetarian/vegan) cutting back on the additives.

4. BE ADVENTUROUS - try new things.  New recipes. New textures.  New flavours.  New tastes.  (If you've never had Total Greek Yogurt - GO TRY IT!!!!)

5. BE SEASONAL - this relates especially to fruits and veggies, check out what's in the shops and markets for example melons and strawberries served with a bowlful of Total Greek Yogurt at this time of year is completely divine!

6. SLEEP - lord this is so important!!! Getting enough quality sleep. From being someone who spent as much time as possible in bed or on the sofa, to being someone who would wake at 2 or 3 in the morning, I know just how important it is to get sufficient QUALITY sleep.  Eating a healthy diet.  Getting good exercise.  It all adds up.

7. MODERATION - some peeps will follow the 100% good all the time rule, but for me that's just not sustainable.  Sometimes I like to be BAD!  What I try to do though is to ensure that it's just a brief splurge and then I get back to the serious business of being good and healthy :)

8. BE PATIENT - Rome wasn't built in a day (as the saying goes).  Don't let one bad day knock you off balance, just don't let it slide into 2 bad days, then 3.....

9. BE NICE TO YOURSELF - don't get bogged down in the future and think 'WHEN I lose weight i will buy nice clothes..' DO IT NOW.  You are worth it.  Make the most of the person you are NOW.  Do your nails.  Dress yourself nicely.  Moisturise your skin.  Love your body and it will love you.

10. SMILE :) :) :)  The old saying 'smile and the world smiles with you' is so true.  It also only takes about 13 muscles to smile apparently, whereas over 70 are needed to frown!

So that's it folks, my top 10 tips to living a healthier life :)
